Follow these steps to fix the HP DeskJet 2600 All-in-One Printer Series when it does not pick up paper:
- Remove all paper and possible obstructions from the input tray.
- Lift the input tray shield, and with the assistance of a flashlight, check inside the input tray area for any obstructions.
- Examine the paper you removed from the input tray, and remove any pieces that are bent, wrinkled, torn, or a different size or type.
- Fan the stack of paper, and then load it into the input tray.
- Slide in the paper width guide until it stops at the edge of the paper.
- Try to print a document.
- If the error persists, continue to the next step.
- Dust and debris on the paper pick rollers can cause paper pickup and feed problems.
- Cleaning the rollers and resetting the printer can help resolve these issues.
- Clean the paper pick rollers.
- With the printer still on, go to the rear and disconnect any cables.
- Then unplug the power cord from its power source.
- You must disconnect the printer power cord from its power source to avoid injury or damaging the printer.
- Remove all paper from the input tray.
- Lift and hold the input tray shield.
- With the assistance of a flashlight, look inside the printer and find the gray paper pick rollers.
- Dampen a cotton swab with water, and then squeeze it to remove any excess.
- Clean both rollers with the cotton swab to remove any buildup or debris.
- Rotate each roller as you finish cleaning a section to clean the entire roller.
- Lower the input tray shield, and let the rollers dry for ten minutes.
- Plug the power cord back into its power source, and then reconnect the power cord and any other cables to the printer.
- The printer turns on automatically.
- Load paper into the input tray and adjust the guide.
- Try to print a document again.
- If the error persists, continue to the next step.
- If the issue continues, service the printer.
- Contact HP for service and warranty options.
