Follow these steps to load envelopes and specialty media in HP printers:
- For rear-loading printers, lift the input tray to raise it into its locked position.
- Slide the paper width guide out as far as possible.
- Load the envelopes into the right side of the input tray until they stop.
- Slide the paper width guide inward.
- Open the document you want to print.
- On front-loading printers, grasp the handle on the input tray and slide it out to open it.
- Slide in the photo tray if your printer has one.
- Slide out the paper width guides as far as they will go.
- Load the envelopes in the center of the input tray, print side down, with the short edge forward.
- Slide the paper width guides inward until they stop at the edge of the envelopes.
- Slide the input tray back into the printer.
- If the listed settings match the envelopes loaded, touch OK.
- Open the document you want to print.

Follow these steps to load index cards for your input tray type on your HP printer.
- For rear-loading printers, lift the input tray to raise it into its locking position.
- Slide out the paper width guide as far as possible.
- Load a small stack of index cards into the right side of the input tray until they stop.
- Slide in the paper width guide until it rests on the edge of the index cards without bending them.
- For front-loading printers, slide out the input tray using the handle, if your printer has one.
- Slide in the photo tray if your printer has one.
- Slide out the paper width guide as far as possible.
- Load a small stack of index cards in the center of the input tray until they stop.
- Make sure the cards are print side down, with the short edge forward.
- Slide in the paper width guide until it rests on the edge of the index cards without bending them.
- Slide the input tray back into the printer.
- If the listed settings match the index cards loaded, touch OK.
- Open the document you want to print.
- Adjust the print driver settings to optimize printing on index cards.
